A BRIEF HISTORY
In 1252 Hailsham was given a Royal Charter by Henry III to Peter of Savoy and his heirs in perpetuity to hold a market in the Parish of Hailsham. In 1996 Hailsham Cattle Market site was threatened with development by a Private Bill, but with much help and support the Hailsham Market Action Group fought and saved the site, which is now the only livestock market in East and West Sussex.
